ヒューマニスト・ジオメトリック—— Steiner Sansのタイプフェイスデザイン

We designed Norma, the debut typeface from August Type Foundry. Norma is a neo-humanist geometric sans of twenty weights. It comprehensively distills the classical skeletons of the twentieth century's defining typefaces while reinterpreting their geometry for the present through our own lens. Its OpenType features comprise ten Stylistic Sets together with twenty OpenType functions spanning contexts from editorial typesetting to information design. In its current ver. 1.001, Norma is built from more than 580 glyphs — standard Latin letters, figures, and punctuation, plus Western and Middle Eastern accents — with Vietnamese, African, and Arabic-region accents planned. The Latin typeface used throughout this site is Norma.

私たちはタイプファウンダリAugustのデビュータイポグラフィ——Normaの制作を行いました。Normaは各20ウェイトで構成されるヒューマニスト・ジオメトリックサンズです。20世紀を代表するタイポグラフィの古典的な骨格を網羅的に抽出しつつ、現代的な幾何学性を独自の文脈で再解釈しています。OpenType Featuresは10のStylistic Setsとその他エディトリアルから情報設計まで幅広い文脈に対応する20のOT機能を有しています。現状ver1.001では一般的な英字・数字・記号に加え、欧米や中東のアクセントまでを含む580以上のグリフで構成されており、ベトナムやアフリカ、アラビア地域のアクセントもカバー予定です。本サイトで採用してる欧文書体もこちらのNormaとなります。
